Warning PV Array AC Isolators Do Not De-Energise the PV Array and Array Cabling

This warning label advises electricians and solar technicians that operating the photovoltaic system's AC isolators does not de-energise the PV array or its DC array cabling. It provides an important reminder that the solar DC side can remain energised independently of the AC connection.

For photovoltaic installations

Suitable for inverter areas, switchboards and other solar electrical locations where personnel may operate AC isolation as part of servicing or shutdown activities.

AC isolation does not stop solar generation

PV modules can generate DC electricity whenever exposed to sufficient light. Disconnecting the inverter from the AC supply does not prevent the array from producing voltage, and DC cabling between modules and downstream isolation points may remain live.

Follow the complete PV shutdown procedure

The required DC isolation steps depend on the inverter, array layout and installed switching arrangement. This warning should be used alongside clear PV isolator identification and the installation-specific shutdown instructions.
